Homeopathy, Fempecked

It has been made known to me that Rebecca Watson, strong and competent advocate of science, has produced a video in which she brings to bear her much commended knowledge of the basic science on the matter of homeopathy, one of her specialties noted by PZ Myers. According to Myers, one needn't publish science papers to speak competently on science. True enough. But according to him, Watson (by name) has done a "fine job on explaining alternative medicine and how homeopathy doesn't work."

So, in his leisure time, when he's not white knighting, perhaps he should look at her doing this 'fine job'.In her most recent contribution to the public understanding of homeopathy, she sets on display the full weight of her penetrating knowledge. Please watch before reading on. I know, I know. You only need to get through the first minute forty-five or so.

Almost Skeptical

So, I'm over at the blog Almost Diamonds where there's a discussion happening about Rebecca Watson. It's a hypothetical set of four propositions which purportedly is a way to convince people like me that what happened to Watson was actually bad. Like, you know, not 'zero bad'.

Anyway, I don't accept her hypothetical for one primary reason. After laying out the four propositions one is invited to take on board, she says this,
Just for now, just assume those things. I won’t hold you to them later. I may point out that it’s creepy to assume a woman is lying unless you’ve got corroborating evidence, but I won’t say, “Well, you said here….”
Well, it's that unless I've got corroborating evidence bit. I do. I've written about it. It's publicly available, independently verifiable and not contested by any of the relevant parties as being a genuine photograph of the time in question, the place in question, and the people in question. It is, therefore, direct evidence. And it is relevant.

Watermelon, I Choose You!

Just Kidding! I didn't choose the watermelon really. I'm not black so that one is obviously not going to be my choice. Sheesh - as if!

Ok. I haven't stopped laughing since I watched Twatson's recap of The Latest (that's me!). So, the world according to Derp goes a little like this:

If you don't agree with Twatson, it's because you're abnormal.

The biggest question to arise out of this is something in the form of: if I can't corner women in elevators at four in the morning and invite them to my room, how will I ever get laid?  In short, you won't, fuckers.

Except me since I take dick. That's my secret gay power right there.  I would link to all of the people who say otherwise with respect to what the issues are. But that's like the whole internet minus PZ, Twatson, Benson, Greta and Jennifer McCreight (rhymes with wrong). So, pretty much look anywhere else and see.

Then go look there and you'll find that's not the number one question either. (granted, they censor, ban, edit and redact posts as they see fit, so YMMV).

You can also get a sex doll; she promises they won't go around pestering with you advice, or complaining. Apparently, they'll just lay there and let you fuck them. Or a fleshlight.  If you're a woman who doesn't agree with her, I'm afraid you weren't worth any advice on how to get laid. After all, as a gender traitor, your concerns for sex aren't relevant in this conversation.

Now that I think about it, neither was anyone else's since we're here discussing beverages. Meh, details, details.

Oh, and don't forget the denouement she has:  I stick my fingers in my ears (a welcome break for my ass let me tell you) and sing lalala. But keep talking to me!

Radical Spiderism, a Cautionary Tale

I am scared of spiders.  I don't mean they bother me, and I'd rather, you know, not share space and time with them because they're lousy dinner guests, or mess the carpet. I mean that I am absolutely petrified of spiders. And wasps too, but only because I'm deathly allergic to being stung. Yes, yes, I know that where I live no one has been killed by a spider in over a hundred years, but still. I'm scared of them.  No spider has so much looked at me cross-eyed or insulted my mother or anything. But I am still scared of them.

Why? As it happens I'm a primate.  I'm an evolved creature who has certain dispositions built into me as artifacts of what was useful for my ancestors to survive long enough to reproduce.

DlandonCole Endorses Sexism â la Rebecca Twatson?

So, yeah. Apparently, not only was what Rebecca Twatson said reasonable, it was imminently appropriate to have said.
Here's his video:

And my response video:
