Semiotics, A Case Study

It isn't my habit to do "shoutouts" for their own sake. But here is an excellent post, with quite useful definitions as regards the Twatson debacle.

As an example:

Ad himinem

Definition: Argumentum ad himinem is an attempt to link the truth of a claim to a negative characteristic or belief of the person advocating it. Closely related to ad hominem, literal Latin “to the man”, this is instead “to the male” and removes gender ambiguity

Love it!

Just sort of stopping by with a brief, off-topic post.

You mentioned somewhere or other that you wanted feedback on your site changes.

So, here we go. I find that the current setup loads very, very slowly compared to the previous setup. I think it's just a tad too busy, too font-heavy maybe, and perhaps too colourful.

I'm not saying you're fontist, or colouraginyist or anything. Just thought you might want to know.

I think what John is tactfully trying to say is that your site looks like Geocities barfed all over it. It's abhorrent and reminiscent of something 'created' by a 10 year old child.

Nonny, so you're saying you like it?

You want more?

Why are you hitting on me like that?

John, I'll look at cutting back on some of the fonts. I use 4 different ones: post header: widget header: data and blog title.

Also, this has fewer graphics interfaces than the previous set up, less color and fewer contrasts, fewer widgets and interface places. How this is more taxing to your machine is confusing to me.

Anyone else noticing a slower load time?

This is puzzling to me.

Justicar, I love you.

Well, no I don't, but I certainly have a great deal of respect for you.

As a professional tech writer of 12 years standing -- oooh me! teh WIN! -- I think the maximum number of font types (not variations within a type) should be two, though if you want to really, really push it, maybe perhaps, if we're liberal, three.

And colours are beeootifull ... so long as there are not too many of them.

Runs perfectly fine and fast with me. The first lack-of-clarity impression disapears after a while and I got used to it pretty fast.

I'm not posting at Abbie's right now because I'm in dire pain from IBS and can't think quite clearly. I don't want to fuck things up. Again :)

I'll play with some different formats to see which variety seem to be more eye-pleasing.
